CLASSIC MEETS MODERN STYLE WEDDING

Jessica and Michael

If you’ve been dreaming of your wedding day for a little while, then there’s a good chance you have a specific wedding style in mind.

That was the case for Jessica and Michael, who wanted a classic meets modern style wedding for their summer day!

I am so thrilled to share how Lindsay Plank Events fully planned and designed their special moment to create the vision they were dreaming of, and allow them to fully live in the moment on the day of.

Jessica even said on her Instagram, “Chill bride energy, brought to you by Lindsay Plank Events.”

Read on to see how we were able to make that happen for the couple:

The Vision for Jessica and Michael’s Modern Style Wedding

Jessica and Michael came to Lindsay Plank Events early on in their wedding planning process, with only a venue booked. With a specific vision in mind, I was so excited to embark on the creative journey of working with the couple!

From the beginning, Jessica gushed about the incredible modern style wedding she’d been dreaming of. She had always envisioned symmetrical, precise lines. She wanted just about everything to be structured and modern.

What Is a Modern Style Wedding?

A modern wedding often incorporates similar design elements as modern home design or even a modern capsule wardrobe.

For Jessica and Michael’s day, it involved a lot of structured, tight designs, instead of using whimsical, organic elements. We also added elegant pops of black throughout her design to match her bridesmaids’ satin formal dresses.

Where Classic Meets Modern

As we were striving for a structured, elevated experience for Jessica and Michael’s modern style wedding, we knew the colour palette needed to align.

Instead of solely focusing on modern elements, we decided to bring a traditional, classic colour palette in to balance the two.

Pops of black, white, and navy were used to keep everything formal and elevated, just the way they wanted it!

Creating a Wedding Design Board to Bring the Wedding Dream to Life

When I first began planning for Jessica and Michael’s wedding day, we sat down together to discuss the wedding design elements Jessica wanted to incorporate. One of the main elements Jessica wanted to focus on was the floral design for the day!

She had a unique, specific dream for both her bouquet and the remainder of the floral pieces. In keeping with the overall theme, Jessica asked if we could focus less on the type of flower and more on a modern wedding bouquet. She wanted a tight, structured bouquet style without any loose greenery.

Immediately, I knew that vision of her modern style wedding bouquet would be our starting point for the remaining wedding planning and design. I created a wedding design board that incorporated her dream bouquet style, as well as the remaining design elements that coincided with it.

Within the wedding design board, we also decided on specific wedding day keywords to help us identify the overall theme. For their day, we chose keywords such as classic, elegant, romantic, and of course, modern.

Curating a Team and Coordinating with Vendors to Stay Cohesive

Since Jessica and Michael had such a clear vision of what they wanted, it was crucial to curate an entire team of wedding vendors that could match that aesthetic.

It’s much better to find wedding vendors who already use that aesthetic, rather than finding ones who don’t and asking them to change their personal style.

So we took as much time as we needed to curate the perfect team of wedding vendors. I sent along the custom wedding design board to each vendor. The design board helped us better articulate the overall vision for the wedding day, along with aligning our vendor team, from photography style to floral design and decor elements.

Rather than relying on each vendor’s interpretation of our keywords, they could see the aesthetic we were striving for. Every single wedding vendor was able to pull from the single design source – the wedding design board. That made the planning and design process much smoother and more cohesive! It was essential to bring the specific vision to life.

The Personal Details That Were Amazing to See!

One of the best parts of being the lead wedding planner and designer is getting to know the couple and using personal details on the special day to make it theirs.

Jessica and Michael’s wedding was no exception! And on their wedding day, it was such a joy to see Jessica’s cousin officiate the wedding. Having a family member as the one to announce the newly married couple to the world is an incredible, personal touch!

And I must say, seeing their first look was the highlight of the experience as their wedding planner. With their golden retriever puppy, Memphis, alongside them, it was such a magical moment!

Jessica and Michael had a fantasy of a modern style wedding. And through the help of Lindsay Plank Events, we were able to make it a reality!

Not only did we bring their vision to life, we continuously heard throughout the day how present Jessica and Michael felt with each other. They were able to live in the moment with their family and friends, rather than worry about executing the day to their vision.

I’d love to show you more inspiration from the most amazing wedding days LPE has helped create!
