FROM A NIAGARA WEDDING DESIGNER: WHAT DOES DESIGNING A WEDDING LOOK LIKE

With a new sparkler on your finger, you’re taking the first steps towards planning your wedding.

And if Pinterest pins are keeping you up at night, then you’re in the right place. Lindsay Plank Events offers the perfect choice to make sure your wedding looks and feels the way you imagine. Through wedding design, I’ll help you narrow down your design focus within the LPE Design & Styling experience. Then, I’ll orchestrate the design elements with a polished artistic eye on the day of!

What Does a Wedding Designer Do?

A wedding designer and stylist does just that. They design your day to make sure all of the hard work from the planning process comes together. With a wedding design investment through LPE, I handle all of the visual aspects of what your day will look like. From your floor plans to your bouquet, to the colour palette and the tabletop designs, I’ll execute every decor aspect.

Designing a wedding takes more than communicating with vendors and making sure the logistics of your vendors  on your day run smoothly. It takes an artistic approach! I’ll help you envision what you’d like your wedding to look like. And then, on the day of, I’ll completely transform your space to create a dream.

Wedding Designer Duties

Unlike a wedding planner, a wedding designer and stylist handles the visual elements of your day. And in doing so, a wedding stylist creates a cohesive, elegant, and romantic aesthetic and mood for you and your guests.

A wedding designer and stylist handles the following:

  1. Creating a custom-tailored wedding design concept

  2. Offering colour palette guidance to help with a cohesive look

  3. Visiting the venue with you to determine the best layout of decor elements

  4. Building a detailed floor plan for your venue

  5. Managing the decor budget and design-based vendors (your florist, stationery, decor rentals, etc.)

  6. Placing all decor elements on-site for your wedding day (your tablescapes, aisle markers, floral installation, cake table, gift and favours table, etc.)

  7. Overseeing your design-based vendors to ensure your vision is executed the way you imagined

When Should You Invest in a Wedding Designer?

  • Although you have great ideas, your creative and artistic approach isn’t fine-tuned for the aesthetic you want

  • To you, the mood you create on your wedding day is one of the most important aspects

  • You have a thousand pins on your wedding Pinterest board and you’re not sure how to narrow them down into one cohesive style

How is Wedding Styling and Design Different from Wedding Planning?

A wedding planner and a wedding designer are two different entities.  While your designer approaches your wedding with artistic ability, your wedding planner handles the logistics of your day.

They’ll take the guesswork out of planning your wedding. From your wedding budget to vendor referrals and contracts, your planner will take care of piecing the logistic elements together.

If you’re looking for wedding planning services and a designer’s artistic eye to create your day, I offer a full wedding planning and design experience. Combining both services allows me to creatively piece together your entire wedding vision.

What Does Wedding Design and Styling with Lindsay Plank Events Look Like?

Through LPE, you’ll have the option to invest solely in design and styling or have everything taken care of with full wedding planning and design.

No matter what you choose, your wedding design and styling with Lindsay Plank Events will include the following:

Determining the Mood and the Wedding Aesthetic

Initially, you’ll receive a wedding day questionnaire. In it, you’ll have the opportunity to tell me about the wedding you’ve been dreaming about, from absolute wants and needs for  your day, to how many members are standing with you at the altar. And, of course, you’ll get to tell me more about  how the big question was asked!

We’ll have a meeting to walk through everything about your dream day so I’m clear on what you’re looking for. Once you’ve decided LPE is the right decision for you, you’ll have the opportunity to share your vision with me via your Wedding Design Questionnaire. And then we’ll establish the mood and wedding aesthetic you’re wanting to achieve through your design and styling.

This is the first thing we do together after discussing your Wedding Design Questionnaire and your design budget because every other decision comes after you choose the mood you want your wedding day to inspire!

Finding the Best Niagara and GTA Wedding Venue for the Day

With your aesthetic settled, I’ll work to help you choose the best Niagara and GTA wedding venue for your day!

The appropriate setting helps you tell the story of your wedding. For example, if you’re wanting a timeless and romantic mood, a Niagara winery wedding location may be appropriate.

Ultimately, your venue can match the wedding aesthetic you’re creating through your design and styling!

Finalizing the Colour Palette that Suits the Wedding Aesthetic

Pinterest is a wonderful tool to help you find ideas for your wedding day. And there are plenty of colour palette options available to you! But with all the ideas, the pins can leave you feeling less than clear on what you want.

Based on the mood and the location you’ve chosen, we’ll finalize a colour palette that compliments them both.

Creating a Custom-Tailored Wedding Design Proposal

With the wedding aesthetic determined, the colour palette finalized, and the location settled, it’s time to start visualizing the finer details of the day.

I’ll create a custom-tailored wedding design proposal for your approval. It will include everything we’ve discussed up to this point. It will also include recommendations for your ceremony and reception florals, stationery details, table design, decor rentals, and so much more!

All of the recommendations I provide are based on evoking the tone and emotion you’re looking for.

Setting Up the Details on the Day-Of

And with the day finally here, it’s time to orchestrate everything into what you’ve been envisioning!

With the fine details we’ve selected, I’ll create the style of the day according to plan. And you and your partner will be sure to have a wedding day that feels exactly right.

On your wedding day, I’ll set up the visual elements exactly as we’ve discussed. That includes:

  • Overseeing your design-based vendors on the day of, such as your floral stylist

  • Crafting the ceremony site including aisle markers, welcoming signage, and more

  • Designing gorgeous tablescapes for your and your guests’ dining tables

  • Setting up visually appealing tables for your gifts, your seating place cards, and more

  • Creating specialty wedding day decor, such as a champagne wall

Ultimately, I will transform your venue according to your wedding day aesthetic, exactly as we’ve planned.

So, if you’re looking for someone to create the aesthetics of the day according to the visions you have dancing in your head, then I can help you!

I’ll guide you through determining the mood of your day. And I’ll bring it together through a keen eye for art, design, and style.
