FALL INSPIRED EDITORIAL AT WAKEFIELD ESTATE

The inspiration came from the venue itself-Wakefield Estate is Ontario's newest private estate wedding venue in the province's beautiful countryside.  The owner of Wakefield wanted to preserve the rustic elements of a countryside estate, including its barn and Old World-style home, while elevating the wedding experience with modern touches and amenities.

The changing of the seasons in Ontario's countryside is always so majestic.  As the leaves gently change from lush greens to both the soft and vibrant tones of fall, the landscape comes alive!  The style was earthy, modern and romantic, incorporating the magic of fall in the colour palette, design choices and overall style of the editorial.

The Colours

The wedding colours were inspired by the season; including earthy brown, yellow, red and green tones.  They played off the natural surroundings and the gentle transformation from summer to fall, incorporating the estate's wheat coloured grass, fall leaves and the Wakefield Estate's overall countryside golden hue.

The Venue

Wakefield Estate is Ontario's newest private estate wedding venue.  The venue includes a bridal suite with modern amenities in the estate's original barn, a ceremony site which carries on with the rustic theme of the countryside with a large wood arbor spanning the whole length of the ceremony site.  The owners preserved the view of the countryside's rolling hills by keeping the arbor very simple; allowing couples to either make the space 'their own' with florals and decor or preserving the wedding ceremony's rustic look with the simple wood arbor.

After enjoying cocktail hour, wedding guests are welcomed into a premium sailcloth tent, which accommodates up to 200 guests.  Couples and their guests can enjoy the gorgeous Ontario sunsets right from their seats as they celebrate the couple's special wedding day!!

Florals and Decor

The decor included neutral Sonoma chairs, charger plates with tooled edges, gold cutlery, modern glassware and soft fabrics to complement both the modern, romantic inspiration and Ontario's fall tones and hues.  Wedding Planner and Designer, Lindsay Plank Events, also wanted to acknowledge Wakefield Estate's Old world charm by incorporating vintage-inspired elements in the stationery, such as wax seals, a timeless font and velvet ribbon on the menu cards.

The floral design was inspired by the space; complementing the large ceremony wood arbor, natural surroundings and season.  The tablescape's flower centrepieces included pops of red, muted oranges, pinks and toffee which enhanced the rustic harvest tables and sail cloth tent.

Favourite Design Element

The beautiful flower columns by MacRose Design Co were a favourite as they really spoke to the season, combining delicate blooms and fall foliage.  They elevated Wakefield's rustic wood arbor, giving the ceremony space a romantic, fall garden-inspired feel without competing with the natural surroundings. Being that they were very versatile and easy to carry, they could be moved to the reception space to enhance the cocktail seating area and later the head table.
