BOXCAR SOCIAL, TORONTO HARBOURFRONT WEDDING

Carey and Andrew approached LPE and asked if I could plan a wedding in 72 days—during the pandemic! Of course, I was up for the challenge. The couples’ top priority was ensuring their guests felt comfortable. We looked into several venues in downtown Toronto before settling on the perfect one, Boxcar Social. Carey and Andrew’s favourite feature was the availability of indoor and outdoor dining spaces so their loved ones could spread out. Meanwhile, my designer’s heart loved the industrial-chic feel and plentiful natural light. It was a perfect match!

However, since the space had a more industrial look, it was necessary to transform it into the elegant and romantic setting Carey and Andrew envisioned for their wedding day. To accomplish this, we selected a muted colour palette with cream, pink, and blush shades to soften the dark interior and exposed pipes. The contrast between light and dark instantly elevated the space! Meanwhile, soft candlelight and bud vases with whimsical florets on the tablescapes brought an air of romance.
